Karen Kornhauser, Owner
Karen has been in the court reporting business for over 20 years. She was born and raised in New York City, pursuing her bachelor’s degree at Long Island University in Brooklyn. In the late 1980s Karen went to work as a transcriptionist for Ginger Burns, former owner of the company then known as National Reporting Service. Then in 1996, Karen began managing the business when Ginger accepted a position as an official court reporter for AOC. After Ginger’s untimely death in 2001, Karen took over as owner and changed the business name to Asheville Reporting.
Barbie Lane
Barbie started out as a court reporter for ARS in the late 1990s, when the company was still called National Reporting Service and was owned by Ginger Burns. In addition to her job as a court reporter, her skills as an organizer have helped her to evolve into the person in the office who handles the scheduling, as well as the accounting and payroll. She is married to Curtis and is the mother of four. Her cheerful personality and sense of humor are a great asset in the office.
Ed Diez
While Ed wears many hats for Asheville Reporting, his main role since he joined us in 2005 is transcript production. With additional training, he has evolved into our on-site videographer, as well. He is originally from Argentina, but has lived in Asheville for a number of years. Ed speaks English, Spanish, and some Italian, and adds to the international flavor of our office.
